Hello all,
Whats the best setting for a servers fps 15 or 20 on a 32man server.
Setting it higher then 20 will it make the server lagger?
Most servers are set at 20 by default
higher fps depends on server speed, not connection, the real server speed... like an pentium 2 runs bad on 30 fps, dual xeon will run good with it, try it on your server maybe you are lucky
Thx guys,
Thats what we have dual xeon, i'll set the server at 30 to see what happens.
The server FPS has a large influence on the connection speed and can indeed cause lags. 20 is an optimal value. If it works OK, why change it?
I tried the server at 30fps and it did run smoother

Now if i add 40 fps is that just pushing it.
How can adding FPS to the default of 20 Making the server run smoother????
I thought ADDING to the FPS will PUT A SERVER under more LOAD????
You sure or are you just like your clan???(STONED...:D:D:D:D:D:D)
I would have thought putting the FPS at 30 was pushing it..LOL
Even with DUAL's processors...
i was just about to make em start explaining that. I have dual xeons and i just changed the fps from 0 to 20, 20 to 30, all the way up to 80, and it did absolutely nothing to anyones connection, or to fps or server lag.
I guess it was the herb
I was just wondering cause our last server rental company had it set to 15 fps.
our new servers are set to 20 fps, i'll try it at 80 an see what happens
If you see it running smoother at 80 FPS,Please tell me where you buy your HERB..!!:D:D:D
BTW Vince you a DAD yet??????

lol
I saw no change at 80 fps, but the back ground sounds would go off and on
i'll just stay at 30 fps.
Baby Jessica. 7lbs 8oz.
she looks like Ike dont she? lol
Hehe seems a long time ago when my 3 were that size
I thought someone was going to tell me to use the SEARCH button for .........BABY..LOL
Congrats!!!!!
Congrats Vince :love
Congrats Vince.
Heh, congratulations.
Back to the subject. A higher sv_fps really does mean higher packet sending frequency, which results in larger bandwidth usage. I can give you a code snippet to prove it.

Ok rookie, so i should just leave it at 20 fps
I told you that back in post number 2..LOL!!!
The only thing is that you are running a dedicated box..So the bandwith MIGHT not be a issue
if you are running the box from a big enough "PIPE"...
Did you try it for more then a few minutes????
If Rookie says he has proof...He will post i am sure....
Yes its a dedicated box with 10 servers running 8-mohaa 2-cod2.
Its been 2 days on sv_fps 30, i thought it ran smoother when there was more then 20 people on the server.

That's right.

Thank you for your sarcasm. :dozingoff
It was not Sarcasm.....Believe it or not!!!
Hell i wanted to see the code at which you were refering to????
