OK since I gave up making POTD's when TF2 came into my life ... here is one I will never finish. Basically what happens when genetic experimentation doesn't go as planned.

I think a few took probably up to 10 hrs to set up right .... if you notice above the dog are two bodies. My idea was to have the dog biting a soldier in half. I never got that set up right (tag_mouth? I forget) and just never found the time to finish it.

I thought a year ago maybe interest in quality potd's over at mohfiles could be achieved, I was proved wrong. In fact potd has turned into potw(s). There is nothing particularly special about this one, but it took maybe 30 minutes .... if that.

Yeah I was looking for that anim and thought the one used wasn't bad. However, looking at it through my work computer the pic is much darker than on my home machine. I should have made it a little lighter .... however, just another reason not to buy a vehicle at night I suppose.

Yeah, that's my failed mathmatical spawned tree... but it all works splendid now; I'm almost done too!

I've put in counter-measures to prevent lag and the "no free edicts" error which turned out to be effective!! It makes some lag when a tree is using the lensflare-lights (many). It's the fault of the lensflare but without these there would only be 3 colours to choose from in AA :s

   Alex, I had to change your fog settings because I was getting that "Purple Nvidia fog" I remember from years ago. I bought a "cheap" Nvidia card for the time being for my new rig untl I can afford the ATI one I want. I ramped up the snow, added the barrel(why is SH the only one with a barrel model?), camp fire (BT) and used the SH anims. What took the longest actually was adding the wine bottle to the AI's hand and have it positioned correctly. That is the canteen_pass_idle anim, but the positioning of the bottle was all wrong so I had to do some trial and error to get it correct. It started out as only two soldiers, but I am happy with the result. I wanted to use Kruger's map as the backdrop of this one and I have plans for using it in another one.

Those are actually the skins by Cubus with a little tweak from myself in the shader to give Sanata a fuller look (look in the Frosty skin how it's done). However, I have the ability to hide things I don't want shown and use "trick photography" when I make these. The dropped trousers are reskinned small semicircle sandbags.

Consider this my swan song of POTD for Mohfiles. I started doing this last year with some inspiration from LeBabouin and seeing that people were submitting the usual glitches and time worn screenies. Maybe we are just the few (remaining) who see this game as a modders paradise of sorts. I was on a mission then trying to get people to be artistic I guess, just for fun now however. I like to use other peoples maps/skins/models/etc as set pieces because there is so much really great material that is never seen by the masses or has just been forgotten. To me this is rather sad. There are soooo many great maps/skins I have lost over the years and shall never again see or play with. I love how creative and infective the MoH community still is,  regardless of the fact collectively we have dwindled in numbers over the last year or two.

   

   I too have less free time these days as my children get older and require more of my attention. I find myself in the throws of inspiration where I do a bunch of scripting and then nothing for months on end as I become selfish and go back to just playing games.

Amen brother , luckily some of those people remaining have collected some of these lost mods over the years and I hope to see them submitted to the masses. There's so much and so little to say about mohfiles... I think it would be in so much better hands if modders/scripters where the staff, PKM is doing a great job, but I personally would add all those great maps. I recently did a search for an awesome map I downloaded from that site a couple of years ago, to find it gone.

   

   MoHAA & SH & BT are one of the few games with such modding freedom. We should be thankful, but every newbie that walks along still asks for either the impossible, either something absurd or either something which as been answered 10000000x times. It seems they don't have enough ambition, appreciation, inspiration or will to start seriously modding themselfs or at least try and solve their own, oh so obvious, problems themselfs. The latter one makes all the difference in experience and skill later on.

   

   As gaming corps make their engine's more complex, their files more protected from modifications, we should consider modding for MoH a blessing and hope people with some will are encouraged to come back to the good old times with MoH. So that most people finally realize good graphics is worth nothing if the gameplay sucks. I remember the first time I player mohaa back in 2002; cheaters gallore and no mods in sight. Look at it now! The modding community did had and still has a huge impact on the game. Too bad corporations don't realize this.

   

   Anyways, those are really jolly screenshots klug, they make me feel merry!

I think the key is always be positive and encouraging. If someone snubbed me back when I was starting out, you wouldn't be enjoying those screenies now. I have found the MoH modding community extremely approachable and helpful. However, you may lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink .... instant gradification be damned! lol

   

   

   Didn't you know all roads lead back to MoH? I know many people (myself included) that go and enjoy the latest and greatest and then go back to old trusty MoH. The only problem these days is getting driver support by Nvidia/ATI. Even though EA released the collector set the older games have trouble running on newer rigs. I myself can't run AA anymore and SH locks up randomly. In fact for the outhouse/chimney shots I had to take the map/shader/textures from SH and park them in my maintt folder.

   other one .. great effort and patience. Regarding moh, oh well ..It will only be my favourite game i guess. I look back and i started playing

   and modding it almost like 6 years ago ..wow .. and its still a great game to mod. I would love to have more time and patience now, but

Problem is Manon in the detached sidecar really doesn't show up well in the background. The other problem is I need to hide part of the other motorcycle because even though I turn off surfaces there is a bit of the backwheel left attached to the sidecar (which is hidden by the drivers sleeve). Maybe this would work better on a different map ... dunno. All the muted colors kind of blend together.

Just for the record I don't feel the need or desire to release any POTD's to mohfiles any longer. You guys get the exclusive whenever I feel the need to get creative. Let them wallow in generic POTD's and let them cry about them. I'm not necessarily talking about my work, but I get rather annoyed that people place votes of '1' out of spite and to me that is very unfair. I just do these to work out creative energy but too many times people act very childish at Mohfiles and put other peoples work down unjustly. So basically ..... screw them, screw them all!!

When we released Total Assault, we released it here, and I think it was Phil or Falcon, who asked for mirroring and for us to posting it there, which at the beginning it was not the intention, (simply downloading it here) but since planet medal of honor, etc got very excited and we got plenty of publicity we decided that yes. Oh man. People not only rated with 1 for no reason but bashed it arguing that it was not a total conversion because there was only a few "weapon skins" and the SP was not modded etc lmao! If they knew the amount of work it took (twice the work in my case) since I lost the reichstag , bunker assault, and everything I had in my HD ...dont know if you remember. My last POTD was having good rating but all of a sudden it got 4 or 5 "1"
