blackhataa:
Hey everyone -
I'm sorry this is coming later than I anticipated but here's the info on the mod tools for Airborne:
I've been working with people on the team, including our technical director, and unfortunately I have to report that we won't be delivering mod tools for Airborne. The simple honest answer is that the version of Unreal Engine 3 we used to ship Airborne did not support modding. We have been involved in several code updates since the ship of the game, but the varied costs of integrating a newer version of UE3 backwards into Airborne to allow modding is prohibitive. There is too much code we'd have to update, and it would essentially mean rebuilding too much of the game's architecture.
Had Epic been farther along with UT3 while we were developing Airborne, things would have been different, but that is unfortunately what happens when you develop a game while the technology is still being developed.
like anyone cares about it, lol
EA stinks
*Herr_Kruger :
like anyone cares about it, lol
Is it still around ... moh:A :dozingoff:dozingoff
On the scrap heap with PA
Ill post the same as i did on TMT. I also notice the difference between replies, here and on tmt. unlike tmt, here we dont see the immediate swearing and slating of blackhat and stuff. Just comment, get on with it here.
well, what he said still makes sense for the type of modding they are probably thinking.
if they relased say enough source code to recompile some dlls, thats enough modding :P. tools just to open the files MUST exist. exporters/importers MUST exist.map stuff MUST exist.
however mod support that is built into an engine, must be like loading a pk3 and turning it on and off. this, we dont need, dont care about. we can get round that,
but the tools that MUST exist, map, file open, extractors, MDL exporters. We would be happ with still,. and i dont even own the game.
plus they could easily release a code snippet to compile and change the game that way. SDK.
SDK!!!!!!!!!
like hal said, whatever GUI rubbishy modding thing they are thinkin of/loadin in the game itself, bah.
of course its possible, people have modded game ports, look at resident evil, tools have been built to open the files, import the models, and walla, modding! textures are easy, walla, more modding,
so altho i see what he means, its bull really. EA HAVE NO IDEA WHAT WE WANT.
if anyone cares to post this on EA forums for me, id be glad, but i cant be botherd to load their page, which takes like 2 hours, then psot , another hour. If they cant be botherd to take 5 mins to read and listen to me or any of us.
i really wish i could stop laughing or feel any sympathy for the buyers of this
Right now I would have to rank MohPA above MohA unless you rank them by which one hit the dust bin first .
*LOL*
I was watching a video from the Games Convention Germany, where Blackhead REAL says "we know what the community likes"...
I still lost my breath for a minute ( or more )...
There was still a question about EA: know they, how the word community was typing???
Whos the people from the community who ceeps the contact to EA? Are they still alive??? For real???
Matther!
Long as there be mapper, the community will live.
Long as the community play customs, there be mappers.
With, or without knowledge about the community from EA.
Let us stay together - so WE are the community.
Blue, but real.
Aqua
haha........... the video "aqua" saw, was recorded at GC summer 2007 at MoH-community-center. blackhat show great enthusiasm, when he talks about "playing in different levels" paratoopers, roof and ground..... something like that.
but i had the chance during this interview, to ask some questions about "modding". in this case BH get a little "Spongy".... i think, this theme was a point of weakness..... answer... first fix somethings, mayby at x-mas a toolset would be avaiable..........
well, i did not belive him, but was hopefull...... my grandpa told me.... hope will die at least...... he knows it very well, he fight at WW2
anyhow, it should be offical, what everybody of us still expected.........
btw... timecode 2:40 to 2:58.... there you can see a grazy guy called "cubus"
Yah we know your right Elg, its just here we see whats mentioned to EA isnt seriously considered, seems to me - get a quick sale, make some promises then leg it with the profits, shame really as if there were tools a great community can be built and the "grab" factor jumps ahead considerably, i know they just want to sell games but gamers soon become bored doing the same things hence the need to allow some modding - brings more attraction to a game of any calibre, it doesnt need to be a good game as long as peeps have some options, not to mention the fun of learning how its all done
Maybe one day eh ...
link to the video cubus ?
