Title: New buffer overflow???
Post by: JoeyC on May 30, 2008, 02:02:50 PM
Seems there may be a new overflow that allows access to the box the mohaa server is on. Anyone hear of this???. My server provider says they are going to discontinue renting mohaa servers.

i dont know if this is the place to say , but i test crashed my server the other day with a old dos bof hack & crashed my server and 2 others on the same box .

now my provider has closed his server rental off ;( and sold out to some other providers .

the test is the dos prompt were you just add the server ip and press enter , it i think finds a hole or something in the memory on the box and fills it to crash it .

   so i need a rental server again ;( .

I have all the fixes applied to my server. My provider is going to drop all moh series games because their servers got hacked into. If there is something new out I think all providers will do the same and this game will finally die out. Jade let me know what provider you hook up with.

i havent heard of it joey and usually see or hear of new exploits quite quickly..who is your provider? quite possibly a pvt exploit but these things dont stay hidden long. ive checked the "usual suspects" webbys but no mention of it m8.

your gonna need another GSP m8 i would suggest http://www.gameservers.com/ if i remember correctly you were windows based? gameservers are linux but overall they are in my opinion one of the best GSP's available. you can check your/your clans pings if you just browse their servers try mine if ya like based newyork/newjersey 8.2.122.123:12203...just out of curiosity how many moh servers were they hosting? sounds like a cop out to me :(

I don't think anything new is out since most are busy with cod4. :p

Your provider probably didn't have many mohaa clients and picked that excuse to explain the drop.

Pm me your ts info viper. I may go with gameservers but I may need the current fixes for linux. Wolf has plenty of mohaa servers but they probably are not all patched.

Are you talking about logging game stats?  We have ours setup to work on our linux server.  They make some change on the box to make the qconsole.log do that.

ty viper .

well what i found also with linux servers is when you stand still in game , sometimes the screen keeps moving sideways or up or down ,,,,,,,,,,,,!! depending on the weapon you fired last i think .

why i say its something to do with weapons is cos if you dont fire a gun , it dont keep moving sideways or up or down ? .

when i have asked the gsp in the past , they say its something to do with the realism .

you cannot turn realism off linux servers they told me too .
