greetings gents (limies included) & my beloved cob .
who wishes to grant an ancient has been former MOHAA god favors ?
i wish to run MOHAA and possibly SH on my laptop but have run into considerable problems .
1. resolution won't go higher than 800X640 and yet is still just a small square box (about 760X760px)
2. when running mohaa, screen seems frozen except for a small block or two (no bigger than 75X100px)
as for SH:
what patch do i need (currently no patches & installing from 10th anniversary)
who has a SH no cd crack ?
fly eagles fly .
Ahar PKM dude!!!
Nice to see you again old chap
1: Ive never considered any laptop to be of use for any kind of decent game, even if it runs i reckon theyll overheat pretty fast, i would seriously consider a cheap used tower or something more appropriate (not the news you want to hear - someone may reply with better advice tho).
2: See above lol
OOh whats this <--- Click Me Yarrrr
lol thanks cob . say how's the cat ?
ran mohaa in safe mode and as the server for three other cpus....no lagging . just the problem with the square resolution . i've heard forcing the resolution using
seta r_customheight XXX
seta r_customwidth xxx
seta r_mode -1
but to no avail .
The cat is much tamer now, still very wary but shes happy here
I would guess your laptops video card isnt up to the standard needed but could be wrong m8, ingame i would try the lowest settings possible, if that isnt working then i would be looking for a video driver update if ones been released for it.
I hope it works for you but i can see nothing but errors coming your way
What video chip is in the laptop?
What OS are you running?

Added 47 minutes later:uninstalled again . did not install crack and attempted to run off of cd . same issue (black screen) . ran windows troubleshooter and attempted to run with xp compatibility . ran until console window popped up with following:

The last few lines are worrying:-

It looks like the game cannot see the main folder, that should be located in the MOHAA folder, not the system32 folder. Unless the reporting program that you are using is set to use that specific path.
Windows 7 and Vista use UAC (User Account Control) which has some issues with installing the screenshots and configs folders in the correct locations. It appears Microsoft didnt want Users to be able to put things where they want to!! If you want to find the folders they will be somewhere under the "User" account (probably the Appliation Data folder).
Have you tried installing the game with elevated permissions(right-click install or setup - I forget which it is - and then select Run as Administrator)?
My install has never been changed since I installed it into my Window2000 machine, I have it on a separate HDD and just connect it to my new PC when I upgrade.
I believe that you can create the directory structure yourself and transfer the files to the correct locations. The game will automatically use the files in correct location as it doesnt use the registry hives to check the paths. Alternatively, install the game on a Windows XP PC and copy the folders to your PC.
did all the above and am down to copied from existing xp cpu to my lap top .
placed EA folder/subfolders into my documents and ran . still same problem . ran MOHAA_server.exe and received this notice in console window:
