Title: what is this?
Post by: easymeat {sfx} on December 30, 2015, 05:45:26 PM
ok I made a map has 1 large room and then added a very large room to it but when I do the Mbuilder thing it says  "entity reached from outside-no filling" then it has something like this

*******************
*******************
**       Leaked          **
*******************
*******************

Is that where the walls are not close enough to each other?  I tried to make walls both ways 1 tut say use "hollow" and other says  make each wall by it's self and put them together . I remembered  bout mitering  them from way back when. Which way is best?

This page is handy for Radiant Errors ... http://www.map.mods-r-us.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2406

Judge always told me to make the walls thin, i dont thnk theyre whats causing your problem tho

Does the map have a skybox yet?

It's only guess by what it says and junk I went through :P

I used hollow as well, then just matched all edges up.
I also found myself setting grid to 1 helps in most cases
for me anyway.

@Cobra

I'm nowhere the level I'd like to be at it, but when I did my first one, I wanted to do a little bit of
everything so I'd know how to get around future hiccups I guess.

For AA & SH you can Find The Boneyard Here:
http://www.mohaaaa.co.uk/AAAAMOHAA/node/12338

Please doc any problems, pretty much everything you do in it has a sound and last time I tried it
on a linux server the sound didn't work right but could have been me, although the map was made
testing it on a windows server, idk if that makes a difference.

I've got several new maps planned but I'm hoping to get further here soon however
the map won't be so much the draw as what I'm going to mod on it.

That's why I'm in search of all sorts of hard to acquire working mods so
I can change them to work different but using the same idea I guess.

What kind of mods? idk, but I know when I see them lol.
I am also looking for a working, simple example mod of attaching an object to a weapon
ie lets say I want to put a screwdriver on top of the smg...

I am looking for Golfclub weapon model, Golfcart and Gopher models though :P

@ Easy
The skybox will make your background and sky and once you put it in there is an option
to hide it while your working in radient otherwise you'll constantly select something on the sky
and it's a pain in the rear. It's under View - Filter - Sky I think.

yep that's what I do always hitting wrong keys. I can't type I hunt and peck so if I look at keyboard I miss something up with my mouse...lol  Been just messing around seeing what's what.  Found out how to make a hole in the walls which was cool.

I remember Boneyard hehe, all good fun and a learning curve, i would like to map like Judge or Kruger.

Welcome to {sfx} Maj, its gonna be fun ;)

well I made a cafĂ©/ bar and no leaks I fixed that from above reply's the only thing is I added about 10 cicrlaur tables with chairs, spent I don't know how much time adjusting the angles and stuff and when Mbulider made the map none of the tables had any textures....lol  said something about not finding the shader for it and I looked it isn't in the pk3 scripts file...lol Now it showed up in map file look good too. But I had fun, I looked at the stock map files and saw some other stuff I want to check out lots on no clip textures want to play with it ...lol I"M HOOKED :P

Youll probably find when your doing scripting mods youll do them more in Radiant for better placement and copy the info from the .map file to put into your script.

Yeh there is some models without TIKs but you could make one for them if you can find the model, you can add custom models too, we converted a lot from SH+BT to AA, Gold has the PK3s on his OneDrive :)

ok got it working I make a pk3 and put the texture, tik file,  in it from the game files then just copy part to the furniture shader and renamed it circulartable.shader...lol worked like a charm.

I've sure you've seen it, but just in case, if you need any guides/tutorials on how to do certain stuff whilst mapping, check out the AAAA Guides & Tutorials database here:
http://www.mohaaaa.co.uk/AAAAMOHAA//content/guides-and-tutorials

(You can simplify the searches by using just one category (mapping/scripting/skinning etc.)).

There are a lot of downloads (especially for mapping) in here that exist out of multiple (or really a lot) of different tutorials, so might be useful to check out all of them :)

@ easy

If you need any help at all just ask!

While I had a very good willing & excellent teacher for me and I still look stuff up,
I recognize that sometimes it's easier to ask than to always search for things
that might be specific to a situation, I have no problems helping in any way.

The most important thing I was taught was "DO NOT" overlap a brush in a map.
That flicker you see in some maps in places are 2 objects drawing over each other.

The tuts Shadow mentioned are very helpful indeed and worked hard on getting them there,
but it really helps when you have a specific question/problem you get stuck on, they just aren't helping, just ask.
It'll happen, just ask...I want to help if I can.

Anyone taught like I was should be obligated to pass it on, and I'll help anyway I can.
