v.nice thanx. i made it a sticky.
I'm so paranoid I run 5 diff antispyware progs plus av, firewall, a non microsoft browser and sit behind a router. I also run a couple of the online scanning bots to check for vunerability and virus - sites like the symantec site do these.
Its no secret that the new anti spyware software from microsoft is the GIANT ANTI-SPYWARE software as they bought the company. This was always a good tool so they made a good choice for a change
found something really interesting! after i run the new anti spyware it found and removed the "net slayer trojan" then opened my autokick and got a "fishtray ocx" error and ck autokick didnt work' so i redownloaded and installed crowkings and it worked fine' then i ran the anti spyware again and' guess what? it found net slayer again' after removing the trojan again my crowkings got the same error msg as before, ive searched the ck forums and theres a thread there with a lot of irate peeps about this subject, check it out

fishtray ocx sounds to me like a activex visual basic contorl he uses for system tray funbctionality. sounds all abit fishy but sometimes things like that can happen. tell him to use a diff oxc there are loads of ways to tray a proggy.
doing a search on google about that specific oxc ill prob find nifo on it.
fishy indeed elgan

yet the sight admin on the crowkings forums denies that netslayer is in autokick but wont or cant explain why crowkings needs reinstalled after removing the trojan' hmmm fishy indeed!
could'nt figure it out:( so out with the old and in with the new! no more autokick for me, using ci instead, now all i have to do is spend 6months trying to figure out ci and we're good to go
thb i wud go with autokick even still..sometimes spyware things have told me my own proggys in vb were spyware:S
ci = lag.
Well do what he says peeps...
Open a command prompt, type "netstat -na" and look for "LISTENING" over on the right. The first column is the protocol (TCP or UDP), second column is the local endpoint (usually 0.0.0.0, meaning "bound to all local IP addresses," and a port number). If there's a TCP listener on port 11 (ie "TCP 0.0.0.0:11 0.0.0.0:0 LISTENING" then you're infected with NetSlayer. If you don't see it, then you're not infected, regardless of what your piece-of-crap-spyware-catcher is telling you.
yeh we did all that last week! i was def infected, but havent ruled out that i could have got that trojan elsewere>> the guy who wrote the paragragh above is adamant that crowkings does "not" contain the "net slayer" trojan, but still if ya remove it then crowkings ceases to work and needs reinstalled, so i opted for the easy way out and used another programe. when an anti spyware programe says "detected net slayer trojan" thats enough to make me paranoid everytime i turn the old pc on. so peeps do what you thinks best!

This isn't to start anything with viper or anyone else, but all the info about netstat and port 11 was told to him when he asked on the autokick forum. He was also informed what where the best anti-virus scanners on the market, pest patrol and xoftspy are known to give alot of false postitive results. He was also informed that spybot, webroot spysweeper and the newest ad-aware SE pro ALL did not find anything(Not to mention AV's missing it also). He was also informed that the file in question is a vb library component that is also found in netslayer. He was also informed just because a program has a library that is common in a virus doesn't mean that program is infected(Teamspeak went through the same thing when Norton gave false positives about it).
your confused m8 i wasnt told anything on the forums: i just read them, and ive said in the posts above that i wouldnt rule out that i might have got the trojan from else were> but still when the net slayer is removed ck wont work, this is it in a nut shell>>> anti spyware finds net slayer>> we remove netslayer>> ck gets an error msg and fails to start>>>we run anti spyware again and it finds nothin, we install ck's again and run anti spyware and it finds netslayer again, so if i dont use ck's then i dont get the netslayer in the scans anymore, and i said above above "so peeps do what you thinks best" i was just pointing out what i found.

now i gotta go take my pretty little gf out to feed her pretty little face, l8rz all
