Title: Work for a Modder
Post by: SneakyPete on June 08, 2005, 12:29:44 AM
I help admin a MOHAA server.  We are currently looking for some modding work.  If interested, please respond to  RE:modder for hire.  I would compensate with cash or donations for good clean modding work with a bit of follow up.  Free advice or help also appreciated.

Looking for fun, playable mods for maps that are respawnable, goal-oriented, and wouldn't require client side downloads.

Also curious about a couple ideas.

Multiple triggers for stock dm maps that would add chunks (10,20,50) points to team totals when triggered.  Looking for reusable triggers that would function for both teams throughout the entire map, and one time triggers (bombs) that function for both teams, but only once per map.  I'm not wanting to end the map, just add points to totals for completion of goals/triggers.

From what I've seen around, this appears to be highly possible, although I am not a modder.

Also wondering about a mod that would heal everyone on a team when triggered, with a reset time.  I don't think I've ever seen anything like this, but really just looking for some kind of medic mod options.[edit] A trigger that drops a health pack with a reset time would be cool too.

Last but not least, a mod that would either teleport teammates (one or all) to the trigger point regardless of their current location, or a mod that would make teleporters avialable only to teammates, and only when a button is pushed for a period of time, or a mod that would force re-spawn the next teammate or 2, or all teammates for a period of time to re-spawn at the trigger point.  I've seen teleporters on maps before, but these conditions might be too much, my only other idea would be to set the teleporter behind a gate or door that can only be opened from across the map (teleports destination).  It would also be nice if the teleporter only worked one way, and only for teammates of the player that triggered the access to it, but definitely open to ideas, or close as possible ideas.

Again though, would like to be able to run these mods without requiring client-side downloads, but open to client-side download maps for those that can meet or exceed some of these ideas.

   Thanks

well i think your ideas could be done but most server mods for people are in their mind. For example no one could know what maps and where in the map you want things.

Isnt it more fun and rewarding to try yourself? triggers and teleports are not too hard at all. You just exec them and change 3 numbers, anything more complicated and we are here for help.

Thanks for the feedback.  Great sig Vince.  I'd love to get in touch with you Vince about modding a map, or possibly many maps, if you are interested.

Yes Elgan, I agree, it would definitely be rewarding to do it myself.  However, for me, it is not worth it to spend the little free time I do have to stumble around through this.  It would be worth more to me to know that someone with some experience, and the ability to do it right was knocking it out, and I could spend that small amount of time, relaxing and enjoying my free time, like MOHAA.  The scope of the project, to me, would be daunting, starting from zero, with about 4 real hours a week to devote to it.

The maps I am looking to mod, would be 5 or so stock dm map, modding up to another 5 single player conversions, and if possible, modding the SH conversion for AA maps, modding The Hunt and V2 to run as dm maps with extras, and possibly a few customs.  That's anywhere from 10 - 20 maps, and too much for me to even want to think about attempting.

Yes modding individuals servers can be time consuming, SFX will be making a Battle Mod soon for stock maps that will be available to all. Not sure what kind of free-time the sfx team members have on their hands, as far as i know theyre all working in projects but good luck to any that may help you as that is a tall order for an individual server:)
