Title: Mods and Linux?
Post by: Elgan {sfx} on June 11, 2005, 11:27:50 PM
I have reports of strange erros and bugs and it's seeming to be all on the linux server's. I am not saying anyhting agaisnt linux but for example my AC mod 1.00 BETA runs fine on windows but i got a e-mail withfeedback (yey) that the exact same pack but on linux doesnt work the same? Also i have seen planes that work like hell on linux but on windows they fly fine?

What might cause such things and why? Whats the difference?

no idea.

but its probably down to the linux conversion itself as EA never did it/suported it.

you ever tryed actually playing mohaa on linux? - not just host?

   jeez its a mess lol

You can change stuff on the fly in linux......Deleted all kinda stuff on there without

   resarting server.....

you wud surly still need to use the "restart" cmd though?

in windows u can edit stuff for AA and then hit restart and it wud all take effect thats why mohaa rocks more then SH otherwise id mod SH and BT.

For dedicated servers we use SERVERDOC....

And nope lets say i wanna add another modded mohdm1 to server just drop in another version

with more zz's and VOILA..it runs..... no restart....

thats pretty cool, cant see why it wud reload for u each time thats prob why they made it shite for SHa nd BT cos it wud take up alot to reload all the scripts.

i think id prefer to ahve to type restart in cosnole though or load the next map for the scripts to load instead of on the fly because if ur half working on a script u wanna be editing and lookign at the serv at the same time. Then again u do all that on ur local machine then upload. hmm

anywhow it still gay of ea to not make the linux mohaa server the same as the windows one.

   and whats a bindery:S hehe

I use both a Linux client and a server, they both work fine, never experienced any problems with them. Actually, they always run better than the wincrap version for me.

hehe i never used linux so i cant comment however it's kinda nnoying to hear stuff dont work for it and i know mods in the past have haf the same problem also. Howeverthis is all due to lazy windows coders on EA's side of shit.
