This is Cron from the =|MC|= Mohaa Comrades Clan ,, I am wondering if u

   can help ,, the other day we banned 4 admited hacks from our server,,

   they

   kept comming back asking to be allowed back we said no and we dont

   negosiate with hacks ,, ever since they are doing something to our

   server

   and jamming up our rcon from working ,, i dont know how or what they do

   but it says bad rcon constantly in our console log,, they dont even have

   to be connected to the server to do this ,, i have asked gameservers or

   host for help and they say they dont know ,, but they do say if any 3rd

   party makes fixes or whatever they will install for us ,, i just dont

   know

   what direction to go ,, our server gets shut down for hours to save us

   the

   hummiliation of not being about to kick and keep ppl banned form our

   server like i say rcon just fails withen minutes ,, when we turn server

   back on withen minutes usually it jammed again ,, any idea how to

   protect

   against this man ,, any help is greatly apriaciated we cant use ,,

   autokick , ci , admin pro nothing when there doing this .. please help

   this has been goin on for 24 + hours

As I posted in TMT make sure you hve this in your server.cfg

   

   

   set sv_allowdownload "0"      // MUST LEAVE AT 0, DEFAULT IS 1, people can DL server.cfg!!!

well ty for a fast reply ,, i have found the program i believe that they are using to do this ,, i have tested it and it works fast ,, disabling all rcon functions ,, and yes our server downloads was set to set sv_allowdownload o in our server.cfg i will try to look around and see if ther is a fix to this program ,, i will not say what program it is tho in theese public forums ,,

   maybe not - but if you set this in your cfg like in your post

   you might want to change it to this.

we do have the corect way man that was just a typo and the problems isent ppl downloading our cfg or anything ,, its the fact of the rcon disabler

They are flooding rcon not downloading the server cfg. Flooding rcon in a fast loop will disable it.

Yes, I was doing some reading and all Q3 titles have this vunerability it appears. Supposedly there is a patch (by the guy who made the utility no less :((), but it makes your password more vunerable to brute force attacks so you need a strong password.

exactly klugcheisser  , and there is a patch that we are currently tryin to get our host to implement ,, i have tested the patch on windwos and it does work ,, now i just wait for my slow arse game host ..

I have a fix for the rcon freeze, we got hit with this in late Dec 2007. It first started with the server.cfg downloading so we added seta sv_allowdownload "0" after that they started freezing our rcon. If anyone wants the fix let me know and i'll send it. Since filefront is going down i have no host to put up a link.

   

   BTW: its for win-server, dont know if it'll work for linux.
