From Betanews i saw this article http://www.betanews.com/article/Wine_Reaches_Beta_After_12_Years/1130338797">Wine Reaches Beta - After 12 Years

i thought there is other things like this for linux though:S. hm  but mainly i see for game hosts. like mohaa for example who didnt get a linux server. most server companies use linux ffs, but if they used 'wine' then they could run the windows version of mohaa and still not have to pay for a OS.

then i wudnt have to get linux and learn what code libs or whatever they are called on linux are available.

There are performance and compatibility issues when running stuff on Wine.

It really depends on what you're running. I play Starcraft regularily on Wine and I daresay it works much better than under wincrap (ever since I installed SP2 my wincrap TCP/IP stack keeps overflowing and after some 1-2 hours the word 'networking' drops the 'working' part).

the network problem could be your router

Rookie One

Then why does Linux work flawlessly?

You say Wine sucks. Try writing your own WinAPI implementation without the access to M$'s code, then.

you said wine sucks:P

maybe the router was first made for linux i dunno what router u got:P. i dont care to argue about windows and linux so dont start :)

Rookie One

No, I did not say that. :P I think Wine is a great piece of software, it allows me to play Starcraft under Linux. :D

I say it can only be a good thing I have a little experience with linux and I must say I find it much better than windows in every way.

that said though it really is let down when/if you want to play games.

never used wine but I have heard good and bad things about it.

have played mohaa on a linux machine before (without wine) got a whopping 20 fps and major sound issues ( in the bridge you could here the river like you were stood in it where ever you were in the map).
