Countdown update? Another game type?

well i been thinking of people moaning about moh again as of late and i was thinking, i got loads to do but really miss playing moh every night and miss making stuff.

   

   "infected" off of time splitters. where u run round and try not to get infected, or virus? if u get touched ur infected. last one not to be infected wins. Could do a variant as ppl might want weapons. so, if they die, they are infected, so its last to be alive, like survivour. but without lives. ffa only really.

   

   next hold the radio.. err, yeah. countdown. hold the radio was its origional name, some may of noticed its folder is HTR , hold the radio. tho then i went team based, countdown. anyway. what it was going to be, the person who holds the radio the longest wins. like from time splitters. you have the radio, FFA. pick it up and run!, try and live, when u die u drop it, the person who holds it the longest, and isnt booted for camping wins! I could add this into countdown maybe if the server is setup as FFA.

   

   tho i dunno if ill ever get time to do them. should be packing right now, off to wild camp in the lakes tomorrow for a week,

   

   

   

   

   The first may go nie with Krugers Resident Evil map.

   

   any other ideas for countdown update?

   

   So for countdown:

   

   * Add FFA support, whoever holds the map radio the longest WINS!!!!! .

   * Look at how it changes map.

   

   Cant think of any other ideas for countdown?

   

   NOTE i dont have time so i probably wont update admin pro countdown as i dont think its widley used anymore, i could easily do it if there is demand tho.

   Well, the main problem i see with this is "campers" , who sit and shoot from the same spot. ones who sneak round an area are fine in this type of sneak game type. this will either becaome RUN and be last or shoot and sneak.

   

   It would be good to take their weapons away and u just have to avoid touching your oponents. This amy work but may not , people might not like a game type that has no weapons?

   

   

   any comments? ideas?

great! we could test it there, and you could make a slight variant of regular infected, zombies, that attck you , ad take some life if they touch you etc, insted of just infecting you :) we could use some anims too. Sal already made some skins (for a clientside part) and im working and I know sal might do some more skin too. I have a blood, gore mod we could use and maybe use the headshot ad some dismemberment lol!

well you should make it a server side mod again !!! .

   make the client side things if any , separate from the server side !!!!! .

   

   players like mods , but they dont like to have to go find the missing parts , skins , maps , weapons .

   

   i like the infecting idea , call it moh bubonic plague lol .

   

   campdown is what it sounds like lol a camping related gametype , to find something and camp with it for as long as you can lol .

   

   the infecting idea ! you could have a medic ! or medic center , so players can un-infect them self's .

   triggers with infection immunity ;) timed .

   clouds of infected gas ! floors that have infected areas that do clear after time .

   

   anyways it all sounds like a good idea to be working on ;) over the winter time ;) .

Its all good :)

   

   Client and Serverside is useful Jade, its nice to bring new things to the game, it helps keep it alive i think :)

   

   Ill fire up my serverbox if theres enough interest, also handy for clientside stuff if we run an M-R-U server again, we can broadcast the addy for downloading any custom stuff :)

i will use them , i just think it should not be client side as a hole .

   if client side is used , make it work with or without the client stuff , thats all i am saying .

What would be nice also is to have some sort of healing the infected player. That's if you make it tdm or not ffa. Instead of killing with weapon you infect with weapon (shot). When infected you loose all weapons/ you glow or something and must be healed to get back to normal. I guess a combination of medic/FT.

   

   Maybe change the weapons projectile from bullet to something else. Or have gas/smoke grenades to infect an area.

   

   Team looses when all are infected.

   

   Just an idea :p

its a shame the player models cannot be made to fall apart .

   so when infected your arms and legs start to fall off , then your body falls apart and just your head is bouncing around lol jking .

   

   if custom things are used then just about anything is possible .

   just thats radiation and u need to find hydro needles to loose the poisioning

ok now im real lost for directions.

   

   how does stalker work? is it a MP game type?

   

   i like JADES idea to make it TDM, also.

   

   so for TDM, when u die u become infected too, so u have to kill the whole team. but they can heal themselves by using medic points? or just medic on them?

Hey mate,

   

   It would be really great if you could develop Countdown 1.7 Standalone a bit.

   

   - fix some crashes?

   - add Free For All for Countdown (for example the one who holds the radio 5 mins wins)

   - make the file smaller for my crappy Demo? :p (like removing sounds etc)

   

   Another thing would be that additional function to Countdown which I mentioned in MSN as well:

   

   - additional option like: checkpoints 1

   - with some checkpoints you would be forced to move your arse (lol Elgan) and not go to base and camp with the light

   - if u dont get to all checkpoints in the Countdown time, the timer stops at 0:00 and goes as punishment back to full time! - so you can't win until having done the checkpoints

   - only the light holder can do the checkpoints

   - the checkpoints could be in the other base, like 2 per team and map

   I forgot one thing:

   

   10 seconds before the Countdown is over, the Countdown timer turns from yellow to red. Always then all server clients get a huge lag during the "click" sound which your code does. ;-)

TDM sounds good Elg - perhaps a team m8 or even 2 have to heal you before you "change", gives you the option also of a "third" team being created -  The INFECTED who will attack anyone thats not affected, be nice to have 2 enemies to fight :)

   

   Countdown - how about you freeze the winner and have a cam zoom in at 1000mph from outside the map and stops just in front of his face to see that smug look  - give him a ciggy in his gob for the cool look :P
