My Omaha Mod

Cobra {sfx}

Ive just spent a day or so modding omaha, it is now Team Death Match, with no objective except to kill your enemy :)

   

   Oh - did i mention you get to fly on the planes and parachute out? hehe.

   Ok the quick rundown bit...

   

   The barbed wire on the shingle bank has been removed, the bangalores are still there but arent working now so its straight into combat. The spawns that were on the  other side of the barbed wire are enabled straight away  :)

   

   Ive tried to make it well balanced, fair and most of all fun. I think the scores are close :)  ( pic a )

   Allies can fly in a P47-ThunderBolt  (pic b),  or if theyre lucky enough, they will spawn or walk into the Paratroopers plane spawn (pic c) and parachute over enemy territory from the C47-Dakota Paratroopers Plane.

   The Plane can currently hold 4 paratroopers :)

   

   The Eastern Most Higgins Boat Has The C47-Dakota`s  Paratrooper trigger and currently it triggers every 2mins 25seconds.

   

   I did it this way so to allow people to get off the boat (if they didnt want to parachute in)and to minimise lag, so far its handling it well, i may add another Axis aircraft - the Fock Wolf 190, and possibly a tiger tank on the top bank.

   

   Some of the trigger times may change like the Paratroopers plane-may bring it to every 1 min.

   

   Axis currently get to fly the Junkers Ju87-Stuka. (pic b)

   By the way - You can also "steal" each others aircraft if you get the chance to. ;)

   Omaha Update....

   

   Ive now added some background effects in, youll notice over a period of time 4 different Aircraft flying a pre-determined route, some have smoke coming from them, 2 have crash paths with a small explosion. Just some special fx i threw together for the Battlefield Atmosphere :)

   To me it now has one hell of an atmosphere, and looks a lot more like a warzone.  (The way it should be.)

   

   

   Oh - the Naval Artillery now targets both sides to even things up ;)

   

   The Panzer and Tiger tanks alternate their firing, one fires for a while, then the other takes over firing, i have made an overlap so they fire together for 20 seconds or so to make it more authentic :)

   

   

   

   This mod is running on the mods-r-us server (80.168.15.19:12203)

Can you post this for download for me somewhere? (It dosnt matter if some of it dosnt work) I would like this for my server. This looks SO COOL!

Actually that is fully functional, im still going to add to it and monitor lag tho.

   

   I cant release it yet as i make mods for the Mods-r-us server so my task is to get as many people as possible onto Vics server, after all he pays for it himself.

   

   I aim to release a mod for every stock map, but as yet most of my time is at work or modding/tweaking/learning/family stuff /etc etc.

   

   Once were happy with all the stock map mods i reckon well have more time for the public mod  (couple of maps still to tackle yet)

It will be released in Pk3 format m8, something for each map :) and will be located in the "Modfiles" section.

   i was acctually stunned.. He said i got a plane flying around the map, I didnt think he ment about 4 at once with people in them!!!

Aww shucks guys ;)

   

   Omaha needed livening up a little, looks more like it should now and axis have to work some more too, ive been watching it and the scores are pretty even :)

   

   Ive added 2 tanks that take turns firing ( 1 fires for a 125 seconds  then the other takes over) , cuts back on lag and targets certain positions to liven the map up :)

   

   The Fock Wulf 190 is going to get added also and a couple of kill triggers to sort the cheats :)

i think those mdos are sweet.

   maybe you can help me.

   i am trying to make a map for my clan that is not a stock map.

   i am trying to get some allies to come out of a plane and parachute down.

   the axis to come in a truck locked to their seats.

   a flax 88 firing at the other allies

   and the allied objective to destroy the flak 88 by hearing it and coming to destroy it.

   this is supposed to be a training obj. map and i cant figure A LOT out on how to do this.  i figured you were the one to ask seeing as you are the master. :love

The Omaha modification is great! I was thinking..It is very hard to actually hit somebody from the plane. I always get the B.A.R or Stg44 and get into a plane and start shooting at the Axis but I only ever seem to be able to kill people with grenades that I drop from the plane.

   

   So...is there any possibility of adding a machine gun to the planes? You could have the MG42 on the Axis plane and the Allied plane with the 50. Caliber that I have seen on Single Player and some custom maps (Like that one with the moving boats, I can't remember the name, it is a Spearhead/Breakthrough map)

   

   Anyway, if not don't worry. The mod is great.

   

   P.S Can you possibly make it so we can shoot the buggers from the sky? Ty :D

   

   BtW - Is that SSid ViciouSS? I doubt you'll remember me, im not Defaye but somebody who used to be in Covert ;)

Amazing mods, amazing maps, amazing server. Thanx, ive spent many an hour on it! Why is nobody on at 3am GMT?! I've just started exam leave so i got plenty of time!! Im also very glad to see my name on the leader board of the first pic8)! Granted im not doing very well there! Im good, honest! Cheerz for the server btw! :D:yes

Elgan {sfx} has joined our team, hes been actively making mods and ideas for us to use, and has some great mods hes made himself.

   

   Im not sure what joining {sfx} quite involves yet, modders are definately needed to help bring on the mods more and create new ideas, i think we need a live forum here also, altho we are usually on TS2.

   

   At the moment you cant shoot pilots until they bale out as most maps have invisible walls that would crush the player (not to mention the minefields you fly over-giving a kind of flak effect as they explode behind you), so i had to make the plane and player notsolid until they bale out at a safe height away from anything invisible.

   

   I could give people the carryable mg42 to use but weve found its pretty buggy - we used it on Remagen for a while but found once a player died he could still carry on firing the gun on the floor.

   

   Flak to add yet, Elgan {sfx} has been making some Proximity Mines which work pretty well, we could add these as bombs to drop, or even use proper bombs - the ideas now are limitless :)

   

   Another idea is to use multiple splinepaths so the aircraft can vary their pattern - so much we can do its gonna be fun :)

I didnt mean there wasnt a way m8 - just meant i havent had time to research that side - but the good news is Elgan is going to lol so i get a little more time to tweak Omaha hehe.
